What Will You Make This Mean? The one question to ask when life gets hard.

It is not the events in our lives that shape us, but what we choose to make those events mean.

Read that again.

It is not the events in our lives that shape us, but what we choose to make those events mean.

In my own life, I have experienced death. Divorce. Traumatic injury and the loss of an unborn child. Poverty, marital discord, and depression.

Most people have similar life stories;

different flavors of course, but the situations are similar.

The question remains, then, if our life situations are so similar, why are the outcomes always different? Why do some people make lemonade while others wallow in despair?

Because those who make lemonade understand a very important concept:

We get to choose the purpose of every situation in our life.

And this is such good news!

Once you define the purpose of that situation, your actions will automatically fall into place.

This fact applies to every life circumstance but is particularly important to consider when you experience a life circumstance that has no apparent solution.

Just remember this:

The next time life happens, hardship occurs, and you feel despair, ask yourself:

What do I want to make this mean?

Your answer to that question (or variation thereof) will automatically guide your actions, and thus the future outcome of that situation.

You got this girl.
